For Ernest Holzman, battling non-Hodgkin lymphoma was catalyst for adventure. He says knowing the future gave him reason to act like a teenager. Reason to feel invulnerable. Reason to take a chance and work on a new, exciting project.

He hit L.A. with a nude woman, no permits, and a 4x5 view camera. Capturing one image at a time, Holzman's produced L.A. Backstory, a project that explores vulnerability, beauty, and sometimes forgotten corners of the city. The same man who worked on My So Called Life, now 60, will be showing this latest creative effort from Saturday.

L.A. Backstory runs from January 12 through 27.
