On October 31 and November 1, photographer Phillip Van went around downtown New York City, capturing the dark, powerless part of the city due to Hurricane Sandy. Using long exposures, he drew out amazing coloration that makes the buildings appear haunted and lonely. Despite the city having power again, these photos are a reminder of the unfortunate, albeit temporary aftermath of this natural disaster.
