Based in Los Angeles, Megan Whitmarsh makes sculptures that respond to the noise of pop culture. Her idiosyncratic textile work has a bold pop, but rather than pull directly from hard graphic inspirations employs a softer hand that reveals her process. She makes new things as reckoning of a "overwhelming yet compelling" universe.
Whitmarsh's latest exhibition opens this Saturday at LA's New Image Art Gallery and is titled Here Comes Purple. The new material will remain on view though October 20, 2012.
