Last time I tried to sew a back patch on a jacket, Subhumans and black denim were involved. Crust punks are handier than I anticipated—handsewing takes time and more strength than my hands had at 15-years-old. Probably better that I failed, because my skate rat undercut hadn't yet caught up with my stud-bracelet-and-bondage-pants musical tastes. I would have looked quite the fool. Nowadays most of my DIY projects outsource the labor, which is why I'm considering an order from Noelle at Indian Vs Indian, an Etsy shop that sews fabric panels on denim jackets and CPO shirts (they also carry a well-edited selection of Pacific Northwest vintage). Noelle has chimayo weavings, old cotton serape blankets, vintage cloth American flag details, rare Pendleton cloth and vintage Japanese boro panels. The shop takes custom orders, but unfortunately for me they don't stock G.B.H. T-shirts.
