As we gear for to the release of the upcoming iPhone 5, it's always fun to look back at the earliest design patents submitted by Apple through the years. Like these sketches of the original 1985 Apple iPhone. Initially designed as a flip device, the iPhone from the 80's also included a literal apple shape and push keypad. Pretty amazing.
