Ralph Laurenhas been getting loads of shit for the 2012 Olympic uniforms that Team USA will be wearing for the opening and closing ceremony. Aside from the corny berets and the Polo man logo being bigger than the American flag, the uniforms were manufactured in China. A bit of a big deal to some, since the U.S. Olympic team should be wearing American-made gear, right? Well, since it is way too late to right this wrong, the Ralph Lauren brand has pledged to guarantee that the next Olympic uniforms will be made right here in our country. In a written statement, RL officials have committed to "lead the conversation within our industry and our government to address the issue to increase manufacturing in the United States."

Do you think Ralph Lauren's attempted restoration of pride is too late, or are they saving their asses with this announcement? [NY Mag]
