Paying homage to academic painting, Sean Cheetham's portraits balance the realities of a harsh world with glimmers of hope. His latest works are set for exhibition at Katherine Cone Gallery from February 11, 2012. The edgy portraits, full of dark humor, come together under the title Champagne Wishes and Caviar Dreams. The ostentatious remark plays well into Cheetham's conception of the world, the loneliness of his elaborately dressed female subject serving as clearest example.
The portraits will hang through March 10, 2012.
