Alex Rodriguez stopped by The Tonight Show on Thursday night to talk New York Yankees history, his work on Fox and ESPN, and about girlfriend Jennifer Lopez's latest single, "El Anillo." The song, which translates to "The Ring," hints heavily at taking that next big relationship step. Rodriguez says he was right there when the song came together.

"We go to the studio and she says, ' I want you to read the paper,' and it's the song," he explained. "So I read the song and I go, 'Babe, this sounds like they're talking about us.' And she goes, 'Yeah, they made it for me.'" He went on to say he knew the song was "going to be a smash."

Lopez recently made her own visit to Fallon to apply pressure, stating the song is "definitely about" her wanting to get married. When probed by Fallon about if there would be a ring in their future, Rodriguez replied, "Jimmy, you'll be the first to know."

Rodriguez, a former Yankee, also talked broadly about the state of baseball, being named adviser to Yankees co-owner and general partner Hal Steinbrenner, and the team's recently announced 2019 UK matchup with the Red Sox. Watch the full interview above.
