Cam'ron Says He's Suing Dana White for Using His Song in UFC 205 Promo Without Permission

Cam'ron claims Dana White and the UFC didn't ask for his permission to use his song, "Welcome to New York City," in their UFC 205 promo.

In the weeks leading up to UFC 205, the company's first-ever event in New York City, a promo was released with "Welcome to New York City" by Cam'ron playing in the background. But the clip now appears as "private" on YouTube, and it probably has to do with a video Cam posted on Instagram on Monday night.

The clip features the Harlem native calmly informing UFC president Dana White that his lawyers will be getting in touch with his company soon over its use of his song without his permission. "You’ve been using my song all week to promote the Conor McGregor fight at Madison Square Garden," Cam said. "The song 'Welcome To New York City' featuring Jay Z, off my album Come Home With Me. Once again, nobody reached out to me."

In the same clip, Cam also called out the producers of Love & Hip Hop for including him in their extended Season 7 preview. "I guess it’s nobody’s fault because it’s the first time both of these companies are doing business with me and somebody should’ve told them how I get down," he said. "We’ll be reaching out tomorrow. Me and my lawyer.”

While promoting UFC 205 late last month on FOX Sports 1, White claimed that UFC 205 has already broken the Madison Square Garden gate record, set in 1999 when a bout between Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield drew $13.5 million. You can't blame Cam for wanting to get his hands on some of that money, especially after the UFC allegedly used his song without asking him first.
