Over the next week, LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, J.R. Smith, and the rest of the Cavaliers are going to be doing a lot of celebrating in light of their epic Game 7 win against the Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals. So they’re probably going to want to pace themselves if they plan on making it past, like, Tuesday.
Don’t tell that to the Cavs, though. They just made history by beating Golden State, so they’re ready to celebrate. Very early Monday morning, the Cavs got the celebration started by stopping in Las Vegas on their way home from Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif.
XS Nightclub was more than happy to welcome the 2016 NBA champions:
ESPN.com reporter Arash Markazi was on the scene to document the experience. He captured this shot of all the champagne that was waiting for the Cavs when they walked in:
Markazi also took this shot of a Larry O’Brien trophy cake that was prepared for the team:
And he took these videos of J.R. Smith—who, if you missed it, took part in one of the best press conferences you'll ever see after Game 7—doing exactly what you'd expect J.R. Smith to be doing in the club, hours after winning the first NBA title of his career:
The look on Smith's face in this photo is pretty priceless:
Here are the reactions of some people who were at the club when the Cavs came in:
The night is technically still young out in Vegas, so check out Markazi’s Twitter feed for more action. This is only the first of many celebrations for the Cavs, but they’re clearly starting off strong.
