Congrats, Angelique.

Serena Williams' quest to match Steffi Graf's record of 22 major wins will have to wait a little while longer. On Saturday, Angelique Kerber defeated Williams in the Australian Open final, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, to take home the first Grand Slam title of her career.

"I got my second chance, and this is my dream come true," Kerber told ESPN. This "second chance" came in the form of a miraculous come-from-behind victory after falling within one point of getting bounced from the tournament in the opening round by Misaki Doi.

The opening round loss is something Angelique is, unfortunately, all too familiar with. Over the last five years, she had a streak of 11 straight first round defeats. However, this Australian Open was a different story. Following her win over Doi, Kerber was able to carry that momentum to the final where she toppled Williams. Now, she can call herself a Grand Slam title winner.
