Kristaps Porzingis Takes Selfie With Kid Who Cried When Knicks Drafted Him

Kid who cried when the Knicks drafted Kristaps Porzingis got to meet him and take a selfie.

When the Knicks selected Kristaps Porzingis with the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, the reactions from fans inside the Barclays Center were way more negative than they were positive.

The Latvian big man was a relative unknown in the states, and international players (with very few exceptions) don't exactly have the best reputation of developing into NBA stars.

So, the boos rained down and the fans freaked out. One kid in particular got his 15 minutes of fame out of it all for crying and acting as though his world had ended, because his tantrum was picked up by the live television broadcast.

It's been a long time since then, of course, and Porzingis looks to be the type of player who New York can build around for the foreseeable future. The fans have come around, and the kid who once cried at the mention of Porzingis' name now wears his jersey, and was able to arrange a meeting with the Knicks rookie where a photo opportunity took place.

Now, the kid's histrionics on draft night were probably staged for the cameras, and he's calling himself "cryingknicksfan" on Instagram to milk the moment for all that it's worth. But it was a relatively harmless way to gain some attention, and the in-person meet and greet was likely well worth the drama in the eyes of this young fan.
