Let’s take a trip down memory lane, shall we?

The date is August 12, 2014, and Steph Curry is doing an interview on The Dan Patrick Show. Patrick decides to test Curry’s confidence during the interview and asks him to name the better offensive player: Himself…or LeBron James? At the time, even asking that question seemed laughable, but Curry didn’t hesitate to answer.

“Me,” he said. “It’s gotta be, right?”

Our exact response on that day was “Errrr…” We also let it be known that we were still riding for LeBron at the time in a Twitter reacts list we put together. Buuuuutttttttt…

As we snap back to the current day, Curry is the best offensive player in the league right now. Er, right?

We wouldn’t argue with that. And apparently, neither would Curry. In fact, in a new Time interview, Curry was asked right off the bat if he thinks he’s the best player in the entire world. And his response was every bit as confident as it was back in the summer of 2014.

“In my mind, yes,” he told Time. “That’s how I have confidence out there that I can play at a high level every night. I don’t get into debates, arguing with people about why I am versus somebody else. I feel like anybody who’s at the level I’m trying to be at, if you don’t think that when you’re on the floor, then you’re doing yourself a disservice.”

Oh, and here’s a scary thought: According to Curry, he’s just getting started.

“You should expect me to keep getting better,” he said at the end of the interview.
