Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa and Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant have been named the American League and National League Rookie of the Year, respectively.

Bryant came away with all 30 first-place votes, finishing ahead of San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Duffy and Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Jung Ho Kang. Since his MLB debut on April 17, the 23-year-old left little doubt in the eyes of the Baseball Writers' Association of America after finishing the year batting .275 with 26 home runs and 99 RBIs, and an All-Star selection.

Meanwhile, Correa (17 first-place votes, 13 second-place votes) wasn't such a clear-cut favorite, barely beating out Cleveland Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor (13 first-place votes, 14 second-place votes). After making his debut on June 8, the youngest position player (21 years old) in the majors showed a little bit of everything. From a respectable .279 average to an AL rookie-leading 22 homers to 68 RBIs in 99 games, Carlos reassured Astros fans that the future is bright in Houston.
