The feud between Redskins head coach Jay Gruden and quarterback Robert Griffin III has been well-documented this season, both on the field and off.

And with the Redskins preparing to take on the Giants this weekend on the road, Gruden today announced that, barring a ‘no’ from the doctor, Colt McCoy will be starting under center. McCoy has been dealing with a neck injury, but Gruden doesn’t seem concerned that the ailment will keep his quarterback off the field on Sunday.

“Just a precautionary thing, just to make sure everything is good and there’s no risk of any injury,” Gruden told CSNWashington.com. “It looks pretty positive right now.”

Does it, Jay?

The Redskins are 3-9, and are facing either a third coaching regime during RGIII’s short tenure in Washington, or the possibility of going in a whole new direction at the quarterback position.

To make matters worse, NBC Washington’s Dianna Marie Russini is reporting that Gruden said the Redskins don’t need to see Griffin anymore to “figure out what he can or can’t do.”
