It may be the Dolphins’ bye week, but that doesn’t mean they can’t make headlines on a Sunday.
Defensive end Derrick Shelby was arrested early Saturday morning for resisting an officer (without violence) and trespassing at a Fort Lauderdale nightclub. According to the Sun-Sentinel, Shelby “caused a disturbance” and refused to comply with security’s requests that he leave. His face in the above mug shot would indicate that security did not take kindly to his attitude.
Shelby’s agent says that he will be pleading not guilty, so it’s likely the NFL will have to wait a while before any discipline is handed out. He is the Dolphins’ top reserve defensive lineman, and has recorded six tackles and two sacks this year.
Apparently, he is also incredibly photogenic.
