After injuring his hamstring in last night’s thrilling 2-1 victory over Ghana, USA forward Jozy Altidore will undergo a series of tests today to determine his fate for the rest of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Altidore pulled up while chasing down a ball in the 21st minute last night, and had to immediately be substituted. His absence was quite noticeable for the USA, who missed the burly forward’s ability to control the ball with his back to the goal and help the team possess.

While Altidore’s replacement, Aron Johannsson, impressed during his limited action in qualifying and friendlies, it was clear last night just how important Altidore is to the attack. An extended absence would be a serious blow to the USA’s chances in the tournament.

Captain Clint Dempsey also broke his nose last night after getting kicked in the face, but that does not seem like it will hold him out of future action.
