Earlier this week, 50 U.S. senatorssent a letter to the NFL asking them—urging them—to force Redskins owner Daniel Snyder to change the name of his team. And the thought is that, at some point in the near future, the league is going to step in and tell Snyder that he has to make a change. But Wale is skeptical about why so many senators—and, in particular, the Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid—are getting involved in the controversy surrounding the Redskins' possible name change. He took to Twitter a short time ago to express his skepticism and to explain why he thinks Harry Reid has become so vocal about the issue:
Wale raises a valid point. While we're glad to see U.S. senators stepping up and using their power to shed some light on the issue of the Redskins' name, it's also clear that all of the headlines that it drums up for the senators is free publicity. So Wale and other Redskins fans probably should feel a little bit skeptical about why Reid and others are becoming so involved in the controversy.
