At some point in the not-too-distant future, the Washington Redskins are going to have to change their team name. We know that 'Skins owner Daniel Snyder has been adamant about not changing it. But at some point, it's going to have to happen. There's just too much controversy swirling around it right now for it to stay the same forever.
So what should the Redskins change their team name to when they eventually decide to make a change? There have been a few suggestions thrown out over the last year or so. But Washington tight end Fred Davis has a suggestion of his own. He mentioned it during a radio interview this week.
"Whatever they do, I can't really have a say in it," he said, "and I could see how [the term Redskins] could be kind of offensive. But you know, at the end of the day, I don't have control of that. All I do is put a jersey on and play football. If they call it Washington Redskins…Fredskins…I mean, whatever you want to call it."
Fredskins? Yup, Fredskins. That's his suggestion. Something tells us Snyder isn't going to go for that. But hey, it's one more idea to add to the growing list.
