Trace Evans. Remember that name. Because even though he's only 12 years old right now—and even though he still has a looooooong way to go before he plays in the big leagues—it already seems like he's destined for greatness. Especially after doing what he just did at a baseball tournament in Cooperstown, N.Y.
So what exactly did he do that's got everyone going nuts right now? Well, during a 104-team tournament in Cooperstown last week, Evans led his team, the Las Vegas Baseball Academy Lightning, to the championship and helped them win it. And while doing it, he managed to hit not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven, not eight, not nine, not ten, but 11 home runs in a row. There were a couple of walks thrown into the mix. But Evans set a new tournament record at the Cooperstown Dreams Park by recording 11 consecutive home runs, which is almost too crazy to believe.
And the secret to Evans' success might surprise you. His father doesn't credit batting practice or video study or anything like that for his success. Instead, he credits PEDs. As in, three of his favorite foods.
"Pigs, eggs, and dairy," his dad explained after his son's record-setting week.
He'll obviously need to continue to develop over the course of the next five years or so—and adopt a much, much better diet—but Evans is definitely a kid that you should have on your radar. Because if he's able to hit 11 straight home runs at the age of 12, can you imagine what he'll be able to do once he grows up and improves his game? Just make sure you remember his name. You're going to need to know it.
