40. Magic Johnson (1982)
Team: Los Angeles Lakers
Opponent: Philadelphia 76ers
Result: Lakers over 76ers, 4-2
Finals stats: 16.2 PPG, 10.8 RPG, 8.0 APG, 2.5 SPG
Already a seasoned veteran of the Finals in just his third year in the league, Magic looked right at home against Philadelphia. His contributions didn't necessarily pop off the stat page, but as the maestro of the Lakers' offense Magic showed a level of composure belying his lack of experience. He led all players in minutes, rebounds, and steals, averaging nearly a triple-double as the Lakers relied upon his consistency for each of the series' six games. The blossoming star finished off his outstanding Finals with a 13 point, 13 rebound, 13 assist triple-double in the clinching Game 6 at the Forum, an early sign that throughout his career we'd be seeing Magic's best in the biggest games.
