Tony Parker Promised Tim Duncan Last Season That They Would Get to the NBA Finals

What the lottery numbers?

Maybe it was the emotions from just getting eliminated or possibly there was real hunch behind the proclamation, but whatever it was, Tony Parker is looking real smart right about now. You see, after taking a commanding 2-0 lead over the Oklahoma City Thunder in last year's Western Conference Finals, the San Antonio Spurs fell apart and ended up losing the series in six games.

At the conclusion of Game 6, Parker pulled Tim Duncan aside and made him a bold promise. “I promised him we're going to go back to the Finals,” the 31-year-old point guard said, “and have an opportunity to win the whole thing.” Fast forward one year later and the Spurs are now atop the Western Conference and await the winner of the Pacers/Heat series.

Too bad he limited his prediction to having "an opportunity to win the whole thing." Luckily for the Spurs, they're 4-0 in the NBA Finals, so they do have that on their side.
