Winners and Losers: A Look at the Success Rate of Celeb-Owned Sports Teams

Drew Carey

Team: Seattle Sounders
Years of Ownership: 2007-present
Championships Won And Playoff Appearances: Zero championships / Four playoff appearances

We don't know what it is about Seattle sports franchises but the fans come out in droves to support their teams, and the Sounders are no exception. That's why Drew Carey's 2007 purchase of a minor stake in the franchise was a sound investment. Since becoming an owner, the Sounders made four postseason appearances and back-to-back-to-back US Open Cup trophies. That definitely sounds like something we would be interested in. Props to Carey who's clearly going all in here. He's the chairman of the Sounders FC Alliance (supporters club), and he was instrumental in starting a 53-member marching band for the team. #punsonpunsonpuns
