If you don't think a seatbelt is enough protection during a crash, Mercedes-Benz has got you covered. A new feature called the "beltbag" will have a gas generator that will blow up Velcro seams to about three times the normal width of the belt. It will distribute force over a larger surface area and is aimed to help reduce any damage or risk to your ribcage. Expect this to first show up in the upcoming S-Class and in more models following that.
