Are you broke right now? Struggling to find a job? In serious need of some dough after hitting the strip club a little too hard last weekend? Then, head over to your grandparents' house. Like, now. And, not just to ask them to float you a loan!
Instead, offer to help them clean out their attic. That's what Ohio native Karl Kissner did, and he's about to get a major payday as a result of it. After Kissner's aunt died recently in the house that his late grandfather used to own in Defiance, Ohio, he was tasked with the job of cleaning the old house out. Sounds daunting, right? It was—until he stumbled upon a dusty old box in the attic that had about 700 pristine baseball cards in it from the early 1900s featuring players like Ty Cobb, Cy Young, and Honus Wagner. And, after getting them appraised, it sounds like he stands to make about $3 million at auction off the find. It's being heralded as one of the biggest scores in baseball card history and will make Kissner and his family rich.
"It's like finding the Mona Lisa in the attic," Kissner said.
You can say that again. Now, who wants to go help Grandma and Grandpa clean out their attic?
