One of the craziest parts about the NFL draft is how insanely significant a player's performance in the combine, the 40-yard dash in particular, is. If a player puts up poor numbers, that can largely drop his draft position. With all that pressure, it's surprising mistakes like this don't happen more often. Mississippi State running back Vick Ballard, who had 1,189 yards and 10 touchdowns, simply lost his footing around the 5-yard mark and took out a tripod as he stumbled to the turf. Lucky for him, players get two opportunities, and he posted a 4.63 in his second try.
