Athletes join Twitter—and then subsequently quit Twitter—all the time. Those who quit usually spend a few months on the social-networking site before they decide it's not for them. Or, they get involved in some type of Twitter controversy (we're looking at you, Gilbert Arenas!) and are forced cancel their accounts to limit the amount of negative publicity they receive as a result of their Twitter handles.

Kobe Bryant is always trying to one-up his competition, though, so of course he had to take things one step further when he finally decided to get involved with Twitter.  Last night, he signed up for Twitter and tweeted, "Can you hear me now?!?!" before following a handful of fellow athletes, including Dwyane Wade, Dwight Howard, and Carmelo Anthony, and gaining more than 10,000 followers with the quickness. And then, just like that...he was gone. All you'll see now when you check out @KobeBryant's Twitter feed is "The profile you are trying to view has been suspended."

The good news? It sounds like he's coming back soon. But, for now, all we have to remember Kobe's Twitter run is that one lonely tweet. See ya soon, son? [via Deadspin]
