At the top of the year, we shared early images of a high top adidas Ultra Boost equipped with a sock. There hasn't been much talk of the sneaker since then, but it just got an official release via Y-3

Based on these latest images, this Y-3 Sport Approach is almost the exact same sneaker we saw in January, but the branding has been tweaked—there's no longer an "Ultra Boost" script at the heel cup. These high tops are part of Y-3's newly launched Sport division and feature the exact same Boost tooling as the adidas Ultra Boost running shoe.

That's where the similarities end, though, as the Y-3 Sport Approach features a completely revamped upper that's wrapped in a synthetic shell and capped off with a Techfit compression sock. Surprisingly, these do not feature a Continental rubber outsole, but instead the Ultra Boost's standard StretchWeb.

If you're feeling this ambitious look, you can cop the Y-3 Sport Approach right now from spots like END for $389.
