Last week we reported on a story of a pair of 18-year-old Air Max 95 samples, with a white midsole, that had met a crumbly fate at the hands of a Russian sneakerhead. The sneakers were a piece of Nike history that many would have liked to see preserved, but the owner had other plans for them.

Yura Krupsky, the owner of the sneakers in question, reached out to a friend of his, Konstantin Kachanov, who runs the sneaker photography site Sneakershot, and documented the process of Krupsky's one fatal wear with the 95s.

I spoke to Kachanov, and he relayed the story of why Krupsky decided to wear the sneakers instead of keeping them safely stored away. Here's what he had to say:

This pair of Air Max 95 samples were bought by Yura Krupsky last year on eBay, when they came to him they were fogged and some of midsole start cracking. On Air Max Day this year this pair was a part of exposition here in Moscow, and more cracks appeared on the midsole. So this spring we asked Yura what he wanted to do with his pair, and he said he wanted to do a soleswap. Yura always helped Sneakershot from our first sneaker photo to this moment. So we decided to un-deadstock his pair and capture this moment for him. The other day was the second anniversary of Sneakershot, and we decided to post the pictures because it's a part of history.

It's a passionate story, even though if some will agree to disagree.

Here's a look at the photos below.
