It goes without saying that adidas' history in soccer is amongst the richest in the sport. Seen on the feet of the game's past and current greats, adidas is reaching into its vaults to pay tribute to one of the game's all-time best, Franz Beckenbauer.
Known as "Der Kaiser," Beckenbauer was one of soccer's premier players with a career that spanned almost 20 years which saw him play for Bayern Munich, the German National Team, and the New York Cosmos. Adidas released a signature cleat back in 1977, which was called the adidas Beckenbauer Star. In 1982, adidas would also release another model named after the Kaiser, the adidas Beckenbauer AllAround.
Now, adidas is gearing up for an all-new Beckenbauer collection.
The collection features two pairs of Superstars, a black pair and a grey pair made of mesh uppers, alongside a full apparel offering. T-shirts featuring a graphic, stylized image of the Beckenbauer's face along with jackets bearing his nickname and jerseys featuring his number, are amongst the pieces found in this adidas' tribute which is slated to hit select adi retailers beginning September 1.
