It's been 25 years since the "Infrared" Air Max 90 changed the way we looked at running sneakers. This year, Nike celebrated that milestone in a way that honored the past and looked to the future. The result was a few pairs of "Infrared" 90s: a nearly true retro along with other pairs that used materials such as velvet. One pair, however, didn't make the final cut, but it's now being shown thanks to Instagram.

@OregonSole has been known to have sneakers that others don't, and a pair of "Infared" 90s with paisley print is one of them. He doesn't shed too much light on the sneakers during his Instagram post, but calls them unreleased samples. Given that Nike has moved onto promoting the 20th anniversary of the Air Max 95 as of late, it should be safe to assume that these sneakers were scrapped for unknown reasons.

Here's to what could have been.
