Last night, HBO premiered its much anticipated new series, Ballers. Starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, the show follows the journey of a former NFL football player as he transitions his way into becoming a sports agent while navigating through the crazy lives of professional athletes.
As fans sat down to watch the show, some - especially sneakerheads - might've found themselves rewinding to the opening credits. Why you ask? Well, the opening credits featured two scenes that depicted quite a bit of sneaker heat. And the selection was surprisingly impressive. The standout was the Nike Zoom Vapor AJ3 which was highlighted in its own scene, but several pairs in the background were also certainly noteworthy. Amongst them, fans might recognize the "Houston All-Star Astros" Nike AF1 from 2006, the "Year of Dog" AF1s from 2005, "Olive" Air Jordan V Retros, Missoni x Converse Chuck Taylors, Nike Flyknit Chukkas, Under Armour Curry Ones, Nike LeBron 12 "Data," and Nike Air Force 1 "Easter" from 2006.
But the one pair in the background that was extremely dope and fitting, the Entourage x Nike Air Force 1 also from 2006. Sitting on the bottom row, second from the left, the shoe seems to be a low-key tribute to HBO's popular hit series that Ballers has been favorably compared to. With sneakers being a major focal point in athletes lives, it'll be interesting to see what other gems get featured. Considering Entourage'shistory, might we see a collaboration sneaker as well? We'll have to wait and see.
