Nike doesn't play games when it comes to protecting its brand, even if it comes at the cost of losing a world famous sponsor.

According to Spanish newspaper SPORT, Nike wasn't too thrilled when Cristiano Ronaldo launched his own line of footwear and threatened to cut ties with the Real Madrid footballer. Nike told Ronaldo that he would lose his endorsement, which includes his own signature football boot, if he didn't pull the plug on his footwear collection.

While Ronaldo's collection consists of casual footwear, like boat shoes, brogues, and hard bottoms, and doesn't exactly compete with his range of performance cleats, Nike still wasn't having it. Plus, it probably didn't help that his collection shares the same name as his Nike line, CR7.

Ultimately, Ronaldo complied with Nike and decided to withdraw his own line of footwear. And after seeing some of the styles, it was definitely the right call.
