For over a week, sneakerheads have known and of Nike's plan to honor Kobe Bryant with a special sneaker the moment he broke Michael Jordan's scoring record and have waited patiently for the record to fall.
Well, the wait is over as Kobe supplanted Jordan for sole possession of third place on the NBA's all-time points list earlier this evening against the Minnesota Timberwolves. And as promised, Nike unveiled the commemorative shoe, the NikeiD Kobe 9 Elite "Mamba Moment." Featuring a pre-set multicolor Flyknit upper of "Green and Purple," fans will be able to customize the tongue, laces, midsole, and Swoosh. The color palette consists of 21 choices including both metallic and glow-in-the-dark options. Fans will also have the ability to add a personalized name and number on the inner tongue.
The shoes are currently available now on NikeiD. You'll want to act quickly though as the Mamba Moment will only be available for a limited time.
