Saucony has quite a history. The brand was founded in Pennsylvania in 1898 and has since moved its operations to Massachusetts, while becoming one of the premier running brands in the process. 2014 has also been huge for Saucony Originals, the brand's archival sector, collaborations, although it's been doing them for some time. Penfield is another brand with strong roots to the Bay State, as it was founded in Hudson, Mass. in 1975, and has built its legacy off of creating outerwear that's built to endure the weather of the Northeast.

It was only a matter of time that these two brands came together. The result was a collab on three pairs of the Shadow Original, all of which feature Penfield's signature 60/40 material, a fabric with DWR and Teflon coatings made to keep someone dry.

To get a better insight on these sneakers, we talked to Ben Allnutt, who is head of design at Penfield. To hear him break down his work, check out Everything You Need to Know About the Penfield x Saucony Shadow Collaboration.
