Engineered Garments' mismatch collaboration with Vans was a left-field idea that just worked. While we don't co-sign people wearing two different sneakers at the time same time, when they're actually the same set of kicks, we give it a pass. But EG wasn't just applying hairy suede and smooth leather to slip-on sneakers, the Japanese brand took another menswear sneaker staple, the New Balance 993, and alternated the suede and mesh color placements on the left and right sneakers in each pair.

We've seen this concept executed by New Balance before when it did the "Leftovers Pack," using factory floor scraps to create pairs of wonky kicks. But this time, EG is able to choose between grey and slightly darker grey suede and black and navy suede to create sets of sneakers that go under the radar until they're given a closer inspection.

If you're tired of your monotone, all-grey sneakers, EG will let you switch up your game and casually stunt on your dad's tightly-laced $140 NBs. Expect the sneakers to drop today, September 17.
