It's rare that an NBA trainer bans a shoe, but that's exactly what happened in 2010 when Detroit Pistons strength and conditioning coach Arnie Kander forbade his players from wearing the Nike Hyperize following a rash of injuries. Shoes had been blamed for injuries before (and have been since), but never in such a forthright manner. It's perhaps worth noting that the Pistons went 27-55 that season.
