Remember the old days when basketball players rocked the thigh-high shorts that made them look like a young Charles Barkley. Well basketball shorts have changed significantly since them, and leading the way has been the Nike Elite shorts.

Debuted by USA men’s and women’s basketball teams at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the Nike Elite shorts started a new era in basketball apparel—one that surely we’re all grateful for. Over the last five years, the Elite short has become a mainstay in basketball culture, whether it’s the streets of Venice Beach, CA, or the halls of Madison Square Garden.

This year, in July, Nike will roll out its most advanced performance short to date, the 2013 Nike Elite Stripe. Constructed from sweat-wicking Dri-FIT knit fabric, and laser-cut perforations on the side for ventilation, the Elite Strip short will be the perfect option for the warm summer months.
