Last week Complex had the opportunity to spend an evening with Stefan Janoski drinking wine made by his parents, eating, and talking the Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski. We learned about some of Stefan's favorite aspects of his signature sneaker including the sole he skates in, to minor details such as which set of laces he prefers.
While we kicked it with Stefan he let us in on a few stories that we never heard before specifically regarding the "Wino" Janoski and "Volt" Janoski. Initially, Stefan wanted the "Wino" pair to have two different stains on them one on the right foot and one on the left — coffee (for the morning) and wine (for evening), basically how your day should start and end. Janoski had his designers throwing coffee on samples to see how it would dry but the design never came to be. Stefan is still hoping one day his idea will hit shelves.
The "Wino" Janoski's backstory may be a little more in-depth than the simple inspiration behind the "Volt" Janoski — all it took was a highlighter and a piece of paper. Stefan was sitting around with his friends talking about which colorway they'd like to see on the next Janoski, his friend took a highlighter, colored the paper entirely in highlighter yellow, and the Volt Janoski was born. Stefan wore that pair once, and posted the picture on Instagram.
After listening to some stories about our favorite Janoski colorways we moved on to creating our very own Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski on NikeiD, which is apparently the most popular selection on the entire iD site. We chose an upper of leather with a cork sole and one of the more popular colorways to accent the sneaker. We don't want to give away the entire silhouette, so you'll have to stay tuned, and in a few weeks we'll unveil our creation through our Instagram page and on Complex.com. And we didn't leave empty handed — Nike hooked us up with a dope "Wino" Janoski jersey, complete with official branding. Hit the thumbs to check it out.
