Thanks to world-class golfers like Tiger Woods, Nike has become one of the biggest names in golf over the years. And by the looks of it, that trend is sure to continue.

Nike recently obtained a patent to put data-collecting sensors on golf clubs to make getting fit for them faster and more precise. Where most of the golf fitting is currently done indoors in a controlled environment, the sensor-enabled golf clubs will allow golfers to dissect their swing out on the actual course. Similar to the Nike+ technology being incorporated in virtually every sport by now, the latest plan from Nike Golf will truly modernize the classic sport. In addition, the Swoosh also obtained a patent to place sensors and transmitters in golf shoes.

The only question now is, will more golfers be picking up Nike clubs? We certainly think so.
