BET's The Bobby Brown Story is set to pick up where the network's 2017 hit The New Edition Story left off, and will chronicle the tumultuous relationship of Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston. Producers of the two-part mini-series revealed on Monday that they have cast Gabrielle Dennis of Rosewood fame as Houston, Deadline reports.

Woody McClain will be reprising his role as Brown, and the series will follow the events of Brown's solo career as well as his marriage to the iconic vocalist and their troubling, highly-publicized relationship. Executive producer Jesse Collins and director Kiel Adrian Scott began production this week. The mini-series will also include a roster of other stars including Mekhi Phifer, Lil Rel Howery, Laz Alonso and more.

If this latest installment of Brown's life story is anything like the first, BET is likely to have another hit mini-series on their hands. The New Edition Story drew record-breaking ratings for the network and received largely favorable reviews from viewers and critics alike. People who first tuned in to watch re-enactments of Brown's early life can now look forward to Dennis' addition to the series as she and McClain take us back through the pair's turbulent relationship.

The Bobby Brown Story is set to premiere in September on BET.
