Rick Ross Will Appear in ‘Meet the Blacks’ Sequel, ‘The House Next Door’

Rick Ross is turning his attention to the movie industry.

Back in July, Rick Ross teased that he was working on two movie projects, one of which was an independent project with Gucci Mane. Although we still don’t quite know what Ross and Guwop are cooking up, it seems like we finally know what the other project is.

According to Deadline, Ross has been cast in the upcoming movie The House Next Door, the sequel to the 2016 comedy-horror film Meet The Blacks. Mike Epps is set to reprise his role and star in the sequel, and Danny Trejo (The Flash), has also signed on to work on the movie. The cast will also include Katt Williams, Bresha Webb, Zulay Henao, Andrew Bachelor, Lil Duval, Michael Blackson, and Tyrin Turner.

The movie is currently being filmed in Atlanta, Georgia. Per Deadline, the movie will center on Carl Back, played by Epps, who is now a best-selling author after overcoming a “night of terror.” He moves his family back into his childhood home so that he may spend time working on a new book, but a pimp (Williams) suddenly invades his neighborhood and Carl’s work. Carl’s cousin also becomes convinced that the pimp is a vampire intent on stealing Carl’s entire family.

A few months ago, Ross told Page Sixthat he was getting ready to shoot a film. “I got two different flicks that I am ready to make a move on. Me and Gucci Mane got a flick that we wrote together… All I can say is at the beginning of the film, I am at the car wash and it will go from there.”

That description sounds just like the beginning of Ross, Gucci Mane, and 2 Chainz’s eight-minute-long video for “Buy Back The Block,” so maybe that was a hint. Ross was apparently involved in a project called Mortgage in Miami back in July, and has also appeared in Days of WrathRide Along 2, and the TV show, Magic City. As for Gucci Mane, he made a small but memorable appearance in Spring Breakers back in 2012 alongside Selena Gomez, James Franco, Ashley Benson, and Vanessa Hudgens. He also released The Spot, an independent film, earlier this year.

Ross and Guwop’s moves into the big screen mirror Drake’s recent announcement that he is also starting to make moves in the movie industry, as well. He recently told The Hollywood Reporter that he plans to take “six months or a year to myself and do some great films” since “music’s always there.”

It looks like we’ll definitely be watching work from lot of our favorite rappers on the screen—whether they’re in front of or behind the scenes, this is definitely an interesting development in the rap world and we’re curious.
