John Oliver is a nice guy. Not only does he regularly offer informed rebuttals to our nation's most preposterous obsessions, but he also makes sure to never leave his fans hanging. Though Oliver couldn't bring us a new Last Week Tonight on Sunday, he once again made sure to drop a very necessary web exclusive in which he eloquently responded to fan mail.

As the year is 2016 and the average human doesn't even know how to write or send a physical letter, Oliver instead responded to YouTube comments, i.e. a totally reasonable place to have totally reasonable conversations. Just kidding! "Of course, no one sent me actual mail because I'm not currently fighting in the Revolutionary War," Oliver explained. "As always, our fan mail comes in the form of YouTube comments: the most cogent, written argument for never learning how to read."

Oliver opened with some thoughtful fan comments on the state of his eyebrows, which are either "magnificent" or cleverly disguised "alien caterpillars," depending on who you ask. "That does still technically fall under the umbrella of 'magnificent,'" Oliver explained. "Sorry, Cara Delevingne! I'm the new queen of eyebrow thickness." But YouTube comments aren't always an exercise in congeniality, as evidenced by some of the mean AF jabs tossed Oliver's way.

"At least you serve your corporate masters well, unfunny live action Beaker," one comment read. According to Oliver, that one was particularly hurtful. "I don't mind being insulted by commenters," Oliver said. "But it really hurts when I'm out-comedianed by them." One comment, however, stood above the rest:

Looks like someone owes someone else a hefty zillion-dollar reward. Check out the video above to watch Oliver go diving in the YouTube comments section.
