Future Shock!’s documentary, The Story Of 2000AD, which covers the rise 2000 AD Comics will be hitting the cinemas next month.

Whilst the history of major comic book publishers Marvel and DC are well documented not much is known about their smaller – but nonetheless influential – independent counterparts. Well now it’s their time to shine as independent-British comic staple 2000AD is set to get their own documentary covering their influential rise in the comic book world.

Whilst some of you may not have any clue as to who 2000AD are you more than likely now their talisman character Judge Dredd. 2000AD were the anti-establishment to the major comics scene in the late 70’s and whilst Marvel and DC catered to a more younger mainstream audience, the British comic book publishers was packed with adult content and heavily influenced by Cyberpunk culture and geared their comics to a more mature readership. Their cult status has was an inspiration to other independent publishers and also launched the careers of several highly-successful comic book writers including: Grant Morrison and Mark Millar.
