Microsoft Set to Unveil Smartwatch in the Coming Weeks

And you won't have to charge it every day.

None

Sources have told Forbes that Microsoft is getting close to bringing out its own smartwatch, a fitness focused band that's been in the pipeline since 2012.

The smartwatch will constantly track the wearer's heart-rate as well as motion and calories burned. Even with the constant heart-rate monitor the watch won't need to be charged every day–unlike other brand name smartwatches, it will have a two-day battery life.

The new device will also be able to connect to phones running iOS, Android and Windows operating systems, rather than being singularly for one type of device–like the Apple Watch, set to be released in spring 2015.

Microsoft has previously attempted to break into the smartwatch world with SPOT watches in 2004, though more recently being lauded for being 'revolutionary' at the time, SPOT never took off and was scrapped in 2008
