Despite almost universal ridicule, NBC's Sound of Music live musical event last month was a ratings hit. So it comes as no surprise that today, at the Television Critics Association press tour, the network announced plans for a similar event. This time around the classic up for live reinterpretation will be: Peter Pan, which, when you imagine the outfits and dance numbers, is begging to be hate-watched and live-tweeted. So, another ratings smash then?

Because modern updates of classic fairy tales are the new trend, the Peacock also announced an upcoming miniseries event, or "limited engagement" as they're called now. Emerald City is described as a "thrilling, more epic" version of The Wizard of Oz that will feature some new characters, in what is definitely "not your grandmother's Oz." Whatever that means. No premiere dates were announced at the time.
