It's hard to watch Saturday Night Fever today and not laugh for all the wrong reasons. From John Travolta's wardrobe to the close-ups of his mugging, director John Badham's musically powered drama is a flamboyant experience in molten cheese. But it's not without its strong characterization and impressive performances, namely that of Travolta.

Does the movie hold up as well as its disco-minded soundtrack, though? Not quite. Saturday Night Fever: The Original Movie Soundtrack plays like a bell-bottom lover's jukebox of choice, with the Bee Gees taking center-stage via staples like "Jive Talkin'" and "Stayin' Alive." Just leave moves like these to your boy Tony Manero. —MB
