Looks like Kratos is getting ready for his big screen debut.

To go along with the news that  Michael Fassbender will star in an Assassin's Creed movie, The Hollywood Reporter posted a story saying that Universal Pictures has just hired new writers to work on the script for a God of War film. According to the site, the studio has hired Pacific Rim writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan to rewrite the script for the video game adaptation.

The original game followed the story of a Spartan warrior named Kratos as he hacked and slashed his way through wave after wave of mythological beasts and gods such as Medusa and Ares. The franchise has since spawned multiple sequels and is recognized as one of the most successful video game series of all time.

There is no word on which game the movie will take most of its inspiration from or who will be cast in any of the lead roles. However, as long the studio pumps out something better than the recent Clash of the Titans films, we’ll be satisfied.
