With a brand-new trailer for The Avengers scheduled to premiere tomorrow, Marvel has released a new poster for the movie to whet the appetites of audiences everywhere. Unfortunately, it looks like something a 13-year-old fanboy could have whipped-up on his laptop during gym class.
When compared to the atmospheric and artistic posters we have seen from The Dark Knight Rises and The Amazing Spider-Man over the past few months, this image just falls a bit short. It's obvious that each character is simply Photoshopped into the image without any of the proper lighting or proportion. It also lacks any of the great energy and composition of the classic comic book covers of the past. Just take a look at Captain America; he's easily over 10-feet-tall here. And don't even get us started on the Hulk.
Hopefully the new trailer for The Avengers will make up for this poster because with everything that has been released from The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises recently, this movie could easily wind up in a distant third.
