A new rumor places the Wii U's power at roughly twice what the Xbox 360 is capable of, meaning previous speculation about Nintendo's new system may have been quite conservative. The last tidbit we had from a supposed Wii U developer claimed the system would equal, but not surpass, the 360's power.

Part of this news comes from this week's rumor that the next Xbox will be six times as powerful as the current one. That source noted that the Xbox 720 would "yield 20-percent greater performance" than the Wii U, a figure that backs up what Develop heard last year about the Wii U's power. It's seeming more and more likely that the system is significantly more powerful than what Nintendo's previously shown.

If this new rumor is true, Nintendo may be playing their cards even closer to their chest than usual. Plus the hardware has likely undergone serious revisions since we last saw it at E3 2011. We'll no doubt learn more when they re-introduce the system at E3 2012.

Is power going to be a big factor in the Wii U's success? Should they be focusing elsewhere, like on getting a solid launch line up ready for once? For all we know, they are, but let us know your thoughts in the comments or on Twitter anyway.
